Living on a farm in Thailand is not as relaxing and tranquil as you might think, there is a lot of work to do and we manage this as a family while trying to also fit in our travel!
A Day On The Farm
We usually rise around 6:30am and it straight out to collect the duck eggs, the buffalo need taking out and the pigs need their food. Most days the kids are going to school by motorbike 2 minutes down the road and then we are free to get on with the hard work! We usually have a list of jobs that we planned for the day and will tackle these one by one. Whether its planting new vegetables, landscaping, creating a new area to grow, or doing maintenance on the existing machinery and areas on the farm, we always have something to do. We have been together 8 years and work as a team, so we know each other very well and have a good idea of who is best at what. Our vegetables are on rotation so that we always have enough to live. When the kids return from school its playtime, watering the garden in the evening, preparing dinner and then educational games before bed. Sometimes me and Mo can grab a movie before sleep, other times we are exhausted. We currently grow around 50% of our food but we are working on increasing this. We live off around $500 a month in Thailand when we are not traveling. The farm is our base and allows us to always have somewhere for when we want to hit the road and travel the world as a family, For a general idea on what goes on on the farm please see our vlog here: https://youtu.be/rjmBNL8NQG8 Nothing ever goes perfectly but we love the imperfect of living on a farm in Thailand!
